Privacy Policy

eDog ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the eDog application available at edog.bg and on the Google Play Store, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Bulgarian data protection law.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

• Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — server logs and security monitoring.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — push notifications and location access during walks; you can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.

4. How We Use Your Data

• Operate and personalise the eDog application.
• Send email and push reminders for appointments, vaccinations, and medications.
• Display your dog's public profile page when you share it via QR code.
• Show walk history, distance, and activity statistics.
• Enable community features (posts, events) visible to other registered users.
• Improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymised logs.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

5. Public Dog Profiles

If you share your dog's profile link or QR code, limited profile information (dog name, photo, emergency contacts you choose to include, and medical alerts) becomes accessible to anyone with the link. You control what is included via the Pet Passport settings. You can disable the public profile at any time from your account settings.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Hosting infrastructure — our servers process your data to deliver the service. Servers are located within the EU.
• Email provider — your email address is used to send transactional reminders (no marketing without separate consent).
• Legal obligation — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.

7. Location Data

Location (GPS) is accessed only while an active walk session is running and only if you have granted location permission. Walk route data is stored on our servers linked to your account so you can view walk history. We do not track your location in the background or outside of active walk sessions. You can delete individual walks or all walk data from the app at any time.

8. Data Retention

• Account and profile data — retained until you delete your account.
• Health, training, and nutrition records — retained until you delete them or delete your account.
• Walk GPS data — retained until you delete individual walks or your account.
• Server access logs — retained for 90 days for security purposes, then deleted.
• Push tokens — deleted when you disable notifications or delete your account.

9. Your Rights Under GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access (Art. 15) — request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data directly in the app or by contacting us.
• Erasure (Art. 17) — delete your account and all associated data from the app settings, or by emailing us.
• Portability (Art. 20) — request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection (Art. 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent — disable push notifications or location access at any time in your device settings.

To exercise any right, email privacy@edog.bg. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) at www.cpdp.bg.

10. Security

Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing and are never readable by us. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Access to production servers is restricted and authenticated. Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.

11. Children

eDog is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be notified via a push notification or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
